It wasn’t until ten years later when the family was living in Ottawa that Michèle was “bitten” once again when she was walking by “Seams Sew Perfect” and saw “a beautiful sampler quilt” in the window. She signed up for the course given by Anne Donaghy and has been quilting ever since.

The family home became a Bed and Breakfast where Michèle satisfied her passion for cooking and running a Quilting School.  Along with organizing retreats in tranquil settings for her quilters “to get away from it all” for three days of inspiration and sewing; Michèle staged quilt shows in her garden.  She also managed to keep up with her other activities which included knitting, crafts and gardening.

They have since revamped their location to include a wide array of vibrant colours to appeal to all their customers and diversify themselves from other quilting stores.  The Running Stitch was chosen by the publishers of The Quilt Sampler as one of the 11 Top Quilting Stores in North America.

Owner of Kumon, Sally Kader, is a self-motivated, focused, and highly driven individual with a strong passion for teaching and working with children. Sally has also been a Kumon parent for over eight years; her three children are all long-term Kumon students. Consequently, she has been and still is both a Kumon instructor and a Kumon parent. She is constantly working on both sides of the fence because of this she is able to understand the challenges that come with each role and puts her experiences to good use daily to benefit her students, her staff and her center.

She has an Honors B.Sc. in Physics and a Master’s Degree in Economics and Statistics.   Sally has extensive experience in leading and motivating teams, project management and data analysis as well as teaching.   She has taught in both school and university environments. She is also a regular volunteer in her children’s school and has been assisting their teachers inside the classrooms for several years.  With a strong science and math background, as well as a fluency in Arabic, English and French Sally is able to fully support the children of Kumon as an instructor and is pleased to be able to share her knowledge with her students.
