Karen Jerome Owner of Padgett Business Services - Kanata/Nepean As the owner of the Kanata/Nepean location of Padgett Business Services, Karen is committed to providing each Padgett client with service and value beyond what is expected. Karen’s speciality is in helping small business clients grow their business. Whether you are a sole proprietor, a professional, a family owned business, a partnership or a corporation your business needs will be addressed.

Karen graduated with her Bachelor of Commerce from the Ottawa University in 1987. In 1991, she obtained her professional designation as a Certified Management Accountant (CMA). Karen served in progressively senior roles in several companies including Storwal International, Ricoh Canada, Newbridge Networks, Alcatel, and Alcatel-Lucent. Her career includes positions in both Finance and Information Technology. Padgett Business Services represents the principles and values that Karen has practiced through out her 20 year career.

Karen is happily married to a very supportive husband. Together with their terrific daughter, a cat and the greatest bunch of friends, what more could an accountant ever ask for!

Julia Longpre

Senior Accountant/Client Service Advisor

Julia Longpre Senior Accountant/Client Advisor Julia Longpre is happy to join the Padgett team as their Senior Accountant – Client Service Advisor in 2009. She began her career twenty-two years ago as an assistant office manager using a manual ledger accounting system. From there she learned how to computerize bookkeeping with Bedford (an early Dos based version of AccPac) and went on to implement computerize accounting for over thirty companies across twenty different industries.

During that time she studied Psychology at Carleton University for three years but decided to change her studies to follow her career and began taking Accounting courses at Algonquin College instead. She completed a bookkeeping certificate with honours while home with her second son. As a former business owner and contract bookkeeper for many years, she has a talent for helping people to understand their business, and by saving them money on their taxes!

Julia currently resides in Stittsville with her husband and two talented sons. She loves photography, interior decorating, traveling to new and exciting places, and spending time at the cottage.

Wendy Cui,  B.Eng

Accounting and Tax Specialist

Wendy CuiIn the fall of 2009, Wendy Cui Joined the Nepean/Kanata franchise operated by Karen Jerome. Wendy graduated from Algonquin College with top grades and holds a diploma in Professional Accounting.

As a Tax Associate with a leading tax service company, Wendy was responsible for the preparing personal & business income tax returns for hundreds of clients. She also has several years of customer service experience. Her background in bookkeeping / accounting and along with her experience in personal income tax returns is a great asset to Padgett.

Wendy also holds a bachelor degree of Civil Engineering. In her spare time, Wendy enjoys cooking, swimming and being with family and friends.

In 1965, Walter Padgett had a vision. As a small business owner in rural Athens, Georgia, he witnessed local business owners struggling with the financial aspects of running their own companies. His solution was to create a financial services company focused on helping small business owners thrive more in business. The company grew rapidly and expanded into the Canadian market.

Our local offices continue to operate as Padgett Business Services. Today there are over 400 Padgett Business Services offices in the United States and Canada. We continue to expand throughout the U.S. and Canada.
