EI Premium rates to be reduced in 2008

The Canada Employment Insurance Commission announced that employment insurance (EI) premium rates will be reduced for 2008.

• For employees, the rate will fall to $1.73 in 2008 (2007 – $1.80) per $100 of insurable earnings.
• For employers, the rate for will fall to $2.42 in 2008 (2007 – $2.52) per $100 of insurable earnings.
• In Quebec the rates for 2008 will be $1.39 for employees and $1.95 for employers.
